A surprise meeting between Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD) founder Tej Pratap Yadav and BJP MP Ravi Kishan at the Patna airport on Friday created political chatter amid the Bihar Assembly elections.
The two leaders, who were seen chatting as they left the terminal, drew the attention of reporters who suggested the meeting between the former RJD leader, once a fierce critic of the BJP and RSS, and the Gorakhpur MP hinted at a possible political realignment.
Both have returned from an intense election campaign. Yadav, who was expelled from the RJD by his father and party chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, campaigned for his party’s candidates in Gaya, while Kishan addressed rallies in East and West Champaran.
When asked about their meeting, Tej Pratap brushed aside speculation, saying, “I met Ravi Kishan for the first time. We both share a devotion to Lord Shiva and wear the Tika with pride.”
When asked if he might consider joining the BJP, the Hasanpur MLA, who is now fighting Mahua, offered a cryptic reply: “I will support anyone who works to end unemployment.”
As reporters continued to press the issue, Ravi Kishan intervened, praising Yadav, saying, “It’s his heart that makes people admire him.”
He added, hinting at a possible openness: “Anything can happen. The BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are keeping their doors open for all devotees of Lord Bhalenath who serve selflessly and not for personal gain.”
When asked if Tej Pratap was treated unfairly by his former party after his expulsion on personal matters, Kishan dodged the query saying, “Please don’t ask such questions during elections. The people of Bihar are wise enough to see what is right and what is wrong,” before walking away.
The brief but high-profile exchange added a new twist to Bihar’s political landscape, fueling speculation on whether the RJD leader is aiming for a new political home.
