Speaking about immersing herself in her role, Shefali spoke about the great sense of responsibility she feels portraying real-life stories. “There is a certain sense of power that comes with the role I play. I want to feel it all, there’s nothing I want to shy away from.’
The actor also revealed that essaying the character of police officer Varthika Chaturvedi gave him a new understanding of the challenges they face, saying the show “highlighted how little power police officers really have”.
Director Tanuj also emphasized “great understanding and empathy for how difficult the job is”, saying “the energy to constantly be on top of things, that drive is something I’ve earned a lot of respect for.”
He also highlighted the sensitivity with which the cast navigates dark and difficult topics such as human trafficking in the series, saying, “in the first month or two of development, you feel sick. And then you become numb to it because it becomes part of your life. We have ways of freeing each other from feeling numb.’
