January 2025 veganism survey finds lasting health and mood benefits of veganism – Firstpost

The Veganuary 2025 global survey reveals lasting health and mood benefits, with more than half of participants reporting higher energy, better well-being and improved mood six months after going vegan, highlighting its transformative global impact.

More and more people are discovering that veganism not only helps the planet, it can also change their own well-being. Veganuary’s latest global survey shows that participants who took part in the 31-day vegan challenge in January 2025 experienced long-lasting physical and emotional benefits long after the campaign.

More than half of respondents reported feeling happier, more energetic and healthier six months after switching to a plant-based diet. It also demonstrates that Veganuary has evolved from a short-term promise to a catalyst for long-term lifestyle change, inspiring millions of people around the world to adopt more mindful and sustainable eating habits.

According to Veganuary 2025’s six-month survey, 58 percent of participants who continued to eat an all-vegan diet for six months reported an improvement in mood. This emotional uplift was complemented by other notable benefits: 55 percent experienced increased energy, 48 percent reported improved skin, and 47 percent achieved a desired change in body weight. Overall, 59 percent of respondents said their overall health improved after switching to a plant-based lifestyle.

The survey results also show that Veganuary’s impact extends far beyond the original 31-day challenge. Most participants (80 percent) maintained a significant reduction in their intake of animal products. While 32 percent remain completely vegan, 33 percent have reduced their consumption of animal products by at least 75 percent, and another 15 percent have reduced their intake of animal products by 50 percent or more.

Impressively, 94 percent of those who are not fully vegan said they were likely to try veganism again in the future, reflecting the growing global influence of Veganuary in inspiring sustainable dietary changes. Participants also reported that Veganuary helped them develop a more positive and mindful approach to food, while 67 percent said they now felt more inspired in the kitchen and 52 percent felt they were making more adventurous food choices.

Nearly half of respondents shared that Veganuary helped them choose healthier and more sustainable options for their daily meals.

Commenting on the results, Prashant Vishwanath, India director of Veganuary, said: “Year after year, it’s clear that Veganuary creates lasting change. The fact that nearly 60 percent of participants reported improved mood and increased energy levels is remarkable. Whether people are looking for a more positive outlook, better health or simply greater well-being, these findings show that going vegan can lead to long-term positive transformation.”
