India’s ambassador to the US, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, held a virtual meeting with Intel CEO Lip Boo Tan to discuss the company’s semiconductor and AI plans in India. These talks coincide with India’s efforts to expand these sectors ahead of the India-AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi next February.
The virtual interaction on Saturday came as New Delhi accelerates efforts to strengthen its semiconductor and artificial intelligence industries through the India Semiconductor Mission and IndiaAI initiatives.
“I had the pleasure of speaking with Lip Boo Tan, Intel’s CEO, to discuss Intel’s initiatives and plans for India operations in coordination with the government’s goal of developing India’s semiconductor and artificial intelligence industries under the auspices of the India Semiconductor Mission and India AI,” Kwatra said in a statement to X.
The interaction comes as India prepares to host a crucial artificial intelligence summit in February next year.
The India-AI Impact Summit 2026 will be held on February 19-20 in New Delhi, the first global AI Impact Summit to be held in the Global South.
