Shem Kaushal on Vicky Kaushal’s audition struggle
For the uninitiated, Vicky Kaushal’s father, Shem Kaushal, is a famous action film director in Bollywood. In an interview with Friday talksShem recalled the time when Vicky and Sunny showed interest in acting. He shared, “I couldn’t say no because I was earning in the same industry. I thought someone might offer them tea out of respect for me, but no one would invest crores in a film with them. However, since I was also from a village and worked hard, I believed that if they remained honest and put in the effort, they wouldn’t be denied.”
Shem Kaushal never asked for a favor for Vicky Kaushal
Sham Kaushal also pointed out that he has always supported his sons as a father, but not professionally. “As an action director, I never approached anyone to give them work. People said, ‘Vicky ka kya at the leno audition?’ Until you feel humiliated, you don’t really grow. Make that insult your strength,” he recalled.
“Vicky told me that he got 3-4 scenes in Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana and many people told him not to do this small role, but I always believe that beggars can’t choose and I told him to listen to his heart. Later he called me and said, ‘I keep looking for work and they are giving me work, so I want to do it’. I supported his decision,” he added.
