Delhi Weather Update: AQI at 361, temperature dips to 11°C as winter sets in | News of India

The national capital is shrouded in a layer of toxic air on Sunday, with pollution levels remaining alarmingly high. As the Air Quality Index (AQI) dipped into the ‘very poor’ category in several areas of the city. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) said the 24-hour average AQI was 361.

The data showed that 24 out of 39 monitoring stations in the region recorded AQI levels above 400. Stations in Wazirpur (424), Bavan (424) and Vivek Vihari (415) were among those that registered alarming numbers.

The worst affected areas are Rohini (435), Nehru Nagar (426), Bawana (426), RK Puram (422) and ITA (420). The average AQI was recorded at 391 in Delhi, 391 in Noida, 366 in Greater Noida, 387 in Ghaziabad and 252 in Gurugram.

On Saturday, CPCB data had already listed Delhi as the most polluted city in India. Neighboring NCR cities mirrored the crisis as Noida (354), Greater Noida (336) and Ghaziabad (339) reported hazardous levels of air quality.

Delhi Weather Update

Delhi experienced a wintry chill on Saturday as the temperature dipped to 11 degrees Celsius. According to the forecast, the minimum temperature will drop further in the coming days. According to the IMD, the national capital will witness mostly clear skies with fog or shallow fog in the morning and the minimum temperature may drop to around 10 degrees Celsius.

According to the latest IMD forecast, heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is expected at isolated places over Kerala and Tamil Nadu, while a yellow alert has been issued for East Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh where cold waves are possible at isolated places on Sunday, November 9.
