NEW DELHI: Apple has recently released its iOS 10 operating system for all users supporting iPhone and iPad devices. And despite some initial hiccups, iOS 10The early adoption rate of iOS 9 has been recorded to be higher than that of iOS 9 during the same time period.
As recorded on the Mixpanel website, iOS 10 reached 14.45% of eligible devices in the first 24 hours after its release. In comparison, iOS 9 was at 12.60% eligible devices within 24 hours of release to all users.
It’s too early to tell when iOS 10 will arrive on roughly 50% of all eligible devices. According to the website, iOS 8 reached 50% adoption in a month, while iOS 9 reached the same spot within 12 days. We believe that iOS 10’s adoption rate would have been even greater if it had not experienced installation-related errors early in its rollout.
For those unaware, iOS 10 has reportedly caused iPhones and iPads to freeze after they were updated to the latest OS, within hours of its public release. Several users took to Twitter and Facebook to express their anger, as downloading the update resulted in a factory reset of the devices, erasing all data stored on the devices. An error was reported during the installation process of the phone, prompting users to connect the device(s) to a PC and use iTunes. When I connected, I got another error that said “There is a problem with iPhone ‘iPhone’ that needs to be updated or restored.”
However, Apple quickly resolved this issue. “The issue was quickly resolved and we apologize to these customers. Anyone affected should connect to iTunes to complete the update or contact AppleCare for assistance,” the Recode website said.
