The Indian Navy will celebrate Navy Day 2025 with an impressive operational display at Shangumugam Beach, Thiruvananthapuram on December 4, showcasing its maritime prowess, technological excellence and operational readiness.

Continuing its initiative to take the Navy Day celebrations outside the major naval bases, the Indian Navy has chosen Thiruvananthapuram as the venue this year after successful events in Puri (Odisha) and Sindhudurg (Maharashtra) in previous years, according to Navy PRO. The event aims to bring citizens closer to the Navy by providing a rare glimpse into the force’s multi-domain operations.

The mega-event will highlight the Navy’s advanced platforms and its commitment as a “Preferred Security Partner” in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR), in line with the larger vision of MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Regional Security and Growth).

The demonstration will feature coordinated maneuvers by front-line ships, submarines, aircraft and special forces, symbolizing the Navy’s ability to deliver power and precision across the maritime spectrum. These displays will highlight the seamless integration of surface, subsurface and air assets, enhancing the Navy’s readiness to protect India’s maritime interests.

Reflecting the spirit of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, the event will feature prominently locally built platforms, reflecting India’s growing self-sufficiency in defense manufacturing. The assets on display are a testament to the Navy’s commitment to the ‘Make in India’ initiative and commitment to building a modern, technologically advanced and future-ready naval force.

The celebration will also review the Navy’s state of readiness and deterrence capabilities demonstrated during Operation Sindur, proving its ability to strike with precision, speed and dominance.

Navy Day commemorates the navy’s pivotal role in the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War, particularly Operation Trident, when Indian missile boats launched a daring strike on Karachi harbor, crippling Pakistan’s naval and coastal defences. This historic victory demonstrated India’s sea power, strategic acumen and courage at sea.

The 2025 Operational Demonstration will thus both serve as a tribute to the valor of the men and women of the Indian Navy and a celebration of India’s maritime prowess as a capable, cohesive, reliable and Aatmanirbhar force dedicated to the defense of the sea for Vixit, Samridha Bharat.
