NEW DELHI: Eli Lilly’s weight loss drug Mounjaro has emerged as the top-selling brand in the domestic pharma retail market with sales of nearly Rs 100 crore in October, indicating the huge popularity of such treatments across India.According to the latest data from Pharmatrac, Mounjaro overtook GSK’s widely prescribed antibiotic and long-time market leader Augmentin, which saw total sales of Rs 80 crore for the month.
The sales model is in line with pockets of affluence in Mumbai and Delhi, where both high purchasing power and an increase in weight loss clinics are driving demand. Sheetal Sapale, vice-president of Pharmatrac, told TOI that a similar trend would be seen in other metros as well.
