Bengaluru police have registered a case against an Instagram account user named ‘Kannada Chitraranga’ for allegedly creating an AI-edited video showing Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar pushing and making Chief Minister Siddaramaiah fall.
The complaint was filed by Deepu CR, a legal practitioner, who shared a link to the post on Instagram and claimed that the video had been edited by artificial intelligence. It was posted with a signature “DKShi avaru heege maadabaradittu,» which means “DKS shouldn’t have done that”.
According to the complainant, the accused had created a fake video simulating a news channel broadcast by displaying visuals of breaking news clips showing Mr. Shivakumar pushing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The video allegedly contained statements like, “Shivakumar pushed CM Siddaramaiah and he fell down”, “Happened during a meeting” and “Enraged DKS pushed CM”.
The applicant stated that the video tarnishes the image of both politicians and is of a nature that may disturb public peace and harmony.
Following the complaint, the Sadashivanagar police registered an FIR under sections 192 (reckless provocation with intent to cause riot), 336(4) (forgery) and 353 (statements in furtherance of mischief) of the BNS. Police have yet to identify a suspect.
