Get Apple TV+ and Apple Music with Sapphire Reserve

One of the most secret expenses these days are streaming subscriptions. If you’re like me, you’ll find a reason to need almost every one – and it really adds up.

One of my favorite credit card perks is credits for streaming subscriptions. Right now, most of my Disney+ package is covered by my subscription The Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American ExpressUp to $120 annual statement credit (up to $10 per month) (valid for US websites only; registration required; subject to auto-renewal). My US Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® Card also provides other streaming credit that I can use.

When I saw that Apple TV+ and Apple Music were part of… Chase Sapphire Reserve®(See prices and fees) I was thrilled to cut two more subscriptions from my monthly budget.

Here’s what you need to know.

How to get Apple TV+ and Apple Music with Sapphire Reserve

Instead of a statement of appropriations, Sapphire Reserve Cardholders get free memberships to both Apple TV+ and Apple Music, which means you don’t have to sign up and wait for credit to populate. These memberships are available until June 22, 2027.

To enjoy free Apple TV+ and Apple Music, activate each service individually through the Chase website or app, and link your Apple ID.

Go to the Benefits section of the Chase app or website, choose the subscription you want to activate, then select Activate Now.

After selecting this, you will be prompted with the message “You are now leaving Chase.” This will direct you to Apple, where you can click Link Subscription.

Once you connect your subscription, you’re all set. The process for activating an Apple TV+ subscription is the same.

If you have an active subscription to either service, the free service will automatically suspend the paid service. If you cancel your free subscription, your paid subscription will resume.

Additionally, if you’re feeling generous, you can gift this subscription to a friend or family member. However, to use an alternative Apple ID other than your own, you must activate subscriptions via desktop.

Are Sapphire Reserve Apple TV+ and Apple Music worth it?

Currently, an Apple TV+ subscription costs $12.99 per month, while an Apple Music subscription costs $10.99 per month. The annual value of both of these memberships is $287.76 plus taxes if applicable.

If you’re already paying for both memberships (or are willing to cut other subscriptions in favor of both), the annual savings alone are enough to justify using the card. Increased annual fee ($795, up from $550).

However, the credit card feature only saves you money if you were going to buy it anyway. If you’re not currently subscribed to either membership, this is a nice feature — but it doesn’t necessarily put money back in your pocket. However, this feature is a great way to try out these services and see if you like them or not and can get value from them.

Additionally, this free subscription only applies to the individual Apple Music plan. If you want a family subscription, you’ll have to pay the full family price instead of just the difference from the individual plan.

Bottom line

Sapphire Reserve includes free Apple TV+ and Apple Music memberships, which cardholders can now activate in their Card Benefits Center. It’s worth more than $250 per year, which goes a long way toward offsetting the card’s hefty $795 annual fee.
