United Airlines is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its non-stop service between India and the US, marking a major milestone in transcontinental aviation. Since launching operations on November 2, 2005, United has carried more than 6 million passengers and carried more than 105,500 tons of cargo on 26,000 flights between India and the United States.
United was the first U.S. airline to offer nonstop flights from India to the United States, starting with New Delhi-New York/Newark service two decades ago. The airline continues to operate this route daily, offering Indian passengers seamless connectivity to over 85 destinations across the Americas through its New York/Newark hub.
“We are proud to celebrate 20 years of connecting India to the United States and beyond through United’s unparalleled global route network,” said Harvinder Singh, President, Middle East and India, United Airlines. “India remains an integral part of the United network and our valued customers in India can benefit from daily nonstop flights from New Delhi to our New York/Newark hub, with seamless connectivity to more than 85 destinations across the Americas.”
United’s daily service from New Delhi to New York/Newark is operated using the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, with 257 seats – including 48 all-aisle lie-flat seats in United PolarisSM Business Class, 21 United Premium PlusSM seats, and 188 Economy PlusSM seats, including 39 Economy PlusSM seats for additional legroom and personal space.
The Dreamliner’s advanced design enhances passenger comfort with features like large, dimmable windows, spacious overhead storage, and LED lighting that mimics natural daylight to alleviate jet lag. The aircraft also offers a lower cabin altitude and improved air quality, ensuring a smoother and more comfortable long-haul flight.
United PolarisSM Business Class offers an upscale flying experience, combining full-flat beds with fine dining and premium amenities from Therabody and Saks Fifth Avenue. United Premium PlusSM offers expanded space, priority services and upgraded comfort features including plush pillows and blankets. United Economy PlusSM offers additional legroom and faster descent options, while Economy Class passengers enjoy complimentary meals, beverages and on-demand personal entertainment.
With two decades of continuous service, United remains committed to connecting India to the United States and strengthening its presence in one of the world’s fastest growing aviation markets.
