5. Hadrian’s Wall full-day tour
More history. But this time, you’re heading outside Newcastle to visit the most important and famous historical site in the entire North East of England.
Me personally We highly recommend this guided tour.
Back in the 2nd century, Emperor Hadrian oversaw the construction of the aptly named Hadrian’s Wall – which was built to prevent northern barbarians from entering Roman territory.
So it’s a beautiful historical place, full of museums, miles of castles, stretches of ancient walls, and lots of other things. But most importantly (well, according to me)All of this is located in one of the most beautiful areas of the region.
If you are looking for a trip outside of Newcastle, I cannot recommend this enough. It’s a full 7-hour flight, so you can get a lot of stuff.
There is only one downside-You have to make your own way to and from the Wall, and between all the locations you visit. So you will need your own car/transportation, or you will need to call a taxi every time you need a taxi.
It’s hard to pick just one memorable part. Everything was very good, from the introductory talk to the walk along the wall to the wonderful visits to the Vindulanda and Housesteads forts where Kevin brought the places to life with his knowledge and explanations.
