USA Wine Country: A perfect day in the vineyards of Sonoma

Of the 54 wineries participating in the Wine Road weekend event, we narrowed our list to Russian Vineyards, Overshine Wine Company, Leo Steen Wines, Idlewild Wines, and Ridge Vineyards. With Wolfie at home and dog sitter prices on the rise, we couldn’t cover all of the Wayne Trail land that runs through Alexander Valley, Dry Creek Valley, the Russian River Valley and downtown Healdsburg in one day. We will miss the 11 participating wineries in Alexander Valley, including Francis Ford Coppola Winery and our favorite J. Rickards Winery.

Unfortunately, we missed Ridge Vineyards in Dry Creek Valley that day because we got there after the fourth stroke (the end of the tasting fun). But as we turned back along Dry Creek Road, I noticed the gorgeous Tuscan-style Ferrari Carano vineyard and winery. Although they are not members of Wine Road, we made it our final stop.
