1. Speed (North Wales)
Best for: Super fast zoom
Reach speeds of up to (and sometimes more!) 100 mph (160 km/h)This compact wire is extremely fast. Since it’s so fast, you can lie down on the belt (rather than regular sitting – expect more of that in this guide).
It’s inside Zip World Penrhyn Quarry, in North Wales.
…So it’s close to both Bangor and Llandudno, and within easy reach of both placesOther on-site adventures include karting, quarry tours and smaller zip lines.
Once one of the world’s largest slate quarries, Penrhyn Quarry is home to mountain and lake views, plenty of slate, stone and even wild sheep and goats.
The total pace is about 1 mile (1.6 km), and offers views of Snowdonia (the highest mountain in Wales) ⛰️
2. NE1 Tyne Bridge Sky Zipwire (Newcastle)
Best for: Summer fun in Newcastle
As you might have guessed from its name, the NE1 Tyne Bridge Sky Zipwire runs from Newcastle’s Tyne Bridge ⚫⚪
You can reach the bridge using a crane hoist, then go down to Gateshead (and all the way to the other side of the River Tyne), At speeds up to 30 mph (48 km/h). I’ve never done it before, but because I’m from Newcastle, a lot of my friends have. And they all loved him.

3. Zip World Tower (South Wales)
Best for: Anyone in Swansea, Cardiff, or Newport
🌄 Located just south of the Brecon Beacons, it’s one of the most visited postal wires in Wales (because it’s less than an hour’s drive from the populated trio of Swansea, Cardiff and Newport).
Reach speeds of up to 70 mph (112 km/h)It is home to two separate mines, and is located inside a former mine. Other site highlights include a roller coaster, local food and desserts at the on-site rustic café, and the UK’s largest high ropes course (with three floors of fun!).

4. Go Ape (Battersea Park, London)
Best for: Outdoor zip wire fun in central London
🐒 Go Ape is an outdoor adventure company, offering courses and zip lines across the UK and US.
Most of them are from the countryside. But, uniquely, this hotel is located in the heart of London .
It is located in Battersea Park, which borders the city’s famous River Thames.
In the Battersea Park version of Go Ape, you’ll find… Wobbly bridges, high ropes, strange platforms, treetop crossings, a jungle playground, and quests and challenges that look like they were ripped from Takeshi’s Castle. Some platforms are located more than 13 meters (42 feet) above the ground, twice the height of most Go Ape locations 😱
Includes on-site fun Two zip wires – the largest is 70 meters (230 feet) long.
🚣 You can easily get to Go Ape at Battersea Park by public transport – and it’s convenient! Because the park also includes playgrounds, a boating lake, cafes, a mini golf course, bicycle rentals, and a children’s zoo, You can turn this Go Ape visit into a full day of family fun.

5. Go Ape Aberfoyle (Central Scotland)
Best for: People in Edinburgh and Glasgow
Only about an hour from Glasgow and an hour and a half from Edinburgh, this is our second Go Ape entry (out of a total of 3 Go Ape entries).
…and if you live in the most urban areas of ScotlandIt is the best choice for compact wire.
Go Ape Aberfoyle is home to two of the longest zip wires in the UK:
- One of them is 323 meters (1,060 ft) long.
 - Other measurements are at 426 meters (1,398 feet)
 
Other on-site fun includes a 2.5-hour high ropes course, 46 treetop crossings, rope ladders, wobbly beams, Tarzan swings, cargo nets, and an axe-throwing experience. Overall, a great day of family fun.

6. Go Abe Matvin (Northumberland)
Best for: People in the far north of England
Another entry for Go Ape!
Admittedly, this isn’t the most exciting option — but if you’re looking for healthy family fun, it’s one of our top picks 🧒
Go Ape Matfen is located within Matfen Hall, a large Northumberland country estate dating back to the 19th century. The venue hosts weddings, afternoon teas, occasional events, and… you may have trained yourself… a large high ropes course.
🌳 This high ropes course is home to swaying bridges, Tarzan swings, cargo nets, rope ladders and several high platforms (the highest is at 11 meters/36 feet).

7. Hanglows (at Eden Project, Cornwall)
Best for: Combine your zip wire ride with some amazing jungle fun
The Eden Project in Cornwall is very unique and unusual.
🌴Built in a former clay pit, The huge inland biomes here recreate rainforests and Mediterranean climates. The place is like a living science experiment, featuring lush forests, sunny olive groves, art installations, seasonal events, and even the occasional concert. 🌴
As a nice bonus, the zip cord is here Fastest in England. It’s 660 meters (2,165 feet) long, you can ride it in a reclining position Superman-style, and it reaches speeds of up to 60 mph (96 km/h). You fly over famous biomes and the surrounding hills and fields.
🤩 There is a zip wire inside The larger, adrenaline-pumping Hangloose complex– Also home to a climbing experience, an outdoor swing, a high ropes course, and a large 8m/26ft tower for you and your kids to jump off of (and land on an airbag).
Best for: Go beyond the famous slopes – and combine your wire with some wellness

Measuring a whopping 720 meters (2,360 feet) longThis takes you across chalk cliffs and over lakes – another lying zip wire. You’re flying over a former chalk quarry, and Reaches speeds of up to 50 mph (80 km/h).
🌊 Other on-site fun includes A high ropes course, a giant swing (the tallest in Europe, and the height of a 22-storey building!), an outdoor skydiving machine, a huge inflatable water park, cold water swimming (right inside the quarry lake – you might need a wetsuit!), a sauna and a cold plunge.
There’s a lot of fun surrounding zip wire (and everything else we just described). This includes fun:

9. Birzip (Bournemouth)
Best for: Fun at the seaside when you’re done
One of the more unusual entries on our list, PierZip– As you might have guessed from its name!– Starting from the sidewalk ⛴️
This pier is located in Bournemouth, on the south coast of England. It flies from a tower 25 meters (82 feet) above sea level, then lands on the beach. The total riding distance is 250 meters (820 feet).
🧗Part of the larger RockReef complex, the place is also home to climbing walls, a high ropes course, a near-vertical slide, and some small fake caves for kids to climb into.
…and as a nice bonus: When you’ve finished visiting PierZip, you’ll actually be in one of England’s most popular seaside towns – full of beaches, amusement arcades, ice cream stands, fish and chip shops and a classic promenade atmosphere. Highly recommended! 🏖️
10. The Zip (at Adrenaline Quarry, Cornwall)
Best for: Combine your zip wire ride with endless other fun
Cornwall’s ‘Adrenaline Quarry’ is a huge complex, home to axe throwing, a giant swing (which falls 45m/150ft), cliff climbing, high jumping and an inflatable water park.
🚗 …More importantly, the complex is also home to Kartworldan 800-meter (half-mile) outdoor karting venue 🚗
Its compact cord (appropriately named “The Zip”) is 490 meters (1,607 ft). It launches you off a cliff, over a lake, and reaches speeds as high as 40 mph (64 km/h)..
With its large lake, small cliffs, and Cornish weather, the place has a kind of tropical vibe. Add that to the speed, altitude and all the other activities, and this becomes one of the most dramatic and exciting zip wires in the UK.
🚂 Oh, and as a nice bonus: Since it is located next to Minniot Railway Station, it is easy to reach Adrenalin Quarry by public transportation. comfortable!
