Discover Oman’s partnership with Ironman as the world’s first adventure tourism destination, ETTravelWorld

Oman Experiences, the promotional arm of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, has entered into a strategic, multi-year global partnership with Ironman Group, the world leader in triathlon racing. The agreement, which is valid until 2030, stipulates that “Oman Experience” will become the first ever global partner for Ironman events.

This partnership represents a milestone in the Sultanate’s strategy to become a recognized destination for adventure tourism and large-scale sporting events. The event is expected to attract thousands of international endurance athletes and their companions, providing direct economic benefits while supporting sustainable job creation via Omani-owned companies involved in event delivery and supply chains. The initiative also aims to highlight the Sultanate’s natural landscapes, heritage and cultural assets to a global audience.

As part of the collaboration, several events will be scheduled over the next five years. These include the IRONMAN 70.3 Oman Trial Salalah, scheduled for October 25, 2025, and the Oman IRONMAN 70.3 Muscat Trial in February 2026, which will serve as the 70.3 Middle East Championship, and will provide professional athletes with additional qualifying opportunities for the World Championships. In addition, the first full-distance Ironman race in the Middle East will be held in November of each year in Muscat, offering participants a course that highlights the capital’s landmarks and cultural heritage. His Excellency the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism said: “We are proud that the Sultanate of Oman is the first ever official global partner as a tourist destination for Ironman races. This partnership reflects the Ministry’s vision to make the Sultanate the premier destination for adventure tourism in the region. It also helps stimulate sports tourism, support the national economy and empower Local companies through direct and sustainable employment opportunities.
