SpiceJet has expanded its operational capacity with the addition of another Boeing 737 and the return of the Boeing 737 MAX to active service. These two aircraft join three other aircraft introduced earlier this month, bringing the total number of new additions to five aircraft in October.
Both aircraft have commenced commercial operations, further supporting the airline’s ongoing winter expansion campaign. Earlier this month, SpiceJet added two Boeing 737 aircraft and one Airbus A340 wide-body aircraft, underscoring its focus on enhancing domestic and international connectivity ahead of the festive season.
This latest development is part of a wider plan that will see SpiceJet induct a total of 20 aircraft between October and November 2025. The initiative aims to enhance the airline’s capacity and operational reliability during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
Commenting on this milestone, Dibojo Maharshi, Chief Business Officer, SpiceJet, said: “Our latest service and the return of another 737 MAX to active service represents another strong step in SpiceJet’s growth story. This is one of our largest expansion phases ever, driven by a clear focus on meeting the increase in travel demand and offering our passengers more destinations, enhanced connectivity and greater comfort. By December 2025, our expanded fleet will help us double our capacity and increase our capacity.” Three times ASKM, marks a major milestone in our growth journey.
With this round of additional aircraft, SpiceJet aims to strengthen its position as one of India’s leading low-cost airlines by significantly enhancing seat capacity and flight frequency. The airline’s ongoing fleet renewal and expansion program reflects its efforts to improve utilization, improve operational efficiency and capture a greater share of the growing demand from passengers across domestic and regional markets.
