Aeroplan adds partnership with Bearskin Airlines

Aeroplan has added a new partnership with Bearskin Airlines, an airline founded in 1963 in northern Ontario.

While Bearskin Airlines is based in Thunder Bay (YQT), it also operates flights from Sioux Lookout (YSL) and Sudbury (YSB). The majority of its destinations are in Northern Ontario, but it also flies to Winnipeg (YWG) from Red Lake (YRL) and as far east as North Bay (YYB).

Bearskin Airlines is a division of Perimeter Aviation, and together they boast a fleet of 35 aircraft.

From what I can tell, Bearskin Airlines only operates the Fairchild Metroliner III, which can seat up to 19 passengers.

Beginning October 28, 2025, Aeroplan members can redeem points for flights with Bearskin Airlines.

Here are some key details about the new partnership:

  • Bearskin flights can be booked online, through the Air Canada app, and via the Aeroplan call centre
  • Bearskin Airlines flights can be booked alone or in combination with Air Canada and/or other partner airlines
  • It is not currently possible to earn Aeroplan points on Bearskin Airlines flights
  • Itineraries that include a Bearskin Airlines segment are subject to an Aeroplan partner booking fee of $39

Booking flights with Bearskin Airlines is subject to partner pricing shown in the Aeroplan Flight Reward Chart.

As a reminder, Aeroplan redemptions for flights with Air Canada and select partners (United Airlines, Emirates, Flydubai, Etihad Airways, Canada North, Calm Air, Bearskin Airlines, and PAL) are subject to dynamic pricing.

From what I can expect, flights with Bearskin Airlines should not only total no more than 500 miles, which means flights could be priced as high as 6,000 points, but will likely be priced at closer to 12,900 points (median value listed).

A quick search on the Aeroplan website shows one-way fares from Sandy Lake (ZSJ) to Thunder Bay (YQT) at 15,000 Aeroplan points plus $39 In taxes and fees.

The itinerary itself was booked at cash rates $681. Prices appear to be fairly consistent across many dates in 2026.

This example works with value 4.28 cents per point Which is excellent and more than double our Aeroplan points rating at 2.1 cents per point.

In fact, this is very much in line with the great value you can get by booking flights with Aeroplan’s regional partners using points.

Although it’s not as glamorous as Lufthansa First Class, for example, there’s certainly a lot of value to be found, and plenty of adventures to be had, too.

conclusion

Aeroplan has added Bearskin Airlines as the latest regional airline to become a replacement partner.

Flights can now be booked online, through the Air Canada app, and via the Aeroplan call centre.

It’s great to see Aeroplan incorporating more and more Canadian regional airlines into its partner redemption network. The value to be found here is solid, although I don’t imagine most Aeroplan members will take advantage of this opportunity.

I’m curious to see what partners Aeroplan will add next, as it approaches the 50-airline mark.
