A five-day online faculty development program (FDP) was organized by the Jema Millia Islamia (JMI) Department of Tourism and Tourism Management (DTHM) at the AICTE Academy of Training and Learning (Atal).
In a welcome address, the Convention of DTHM, JMI and FDP, Sarah Hussaini discussed the joint program and its importance in modern times. It drew panelists on a variety of issues that would touch on the FDP and share their experienced insights.
Themed on “Responsible Tourism in the New Normal”, it aims to address and publicize responsible tourism management issues both in practice and in practice as well as theoretical approaches in the hospitality industry. FDP also intends to equip participants with the skills needed to travel responsibly in a covid scenario.
In the keynote address on the opening day, Honorary President of India, Honorary President, Responsible Tourism Society of India, spread the evolution of responsible tourism in India, particularly in the tourism industry covering travel, accommodation and other ancillary segments and stakeholders. Prof Harold Goodwin, consultant, WTM responsible tourism, also gave his views on sustainable and responsible tourism during a session.
In another session, K Rupesh Kumar, coordinator, State Responsible Tourism Mission, Government of Kerala, shared the experiences of Kerala, a successful model of responsible tourism mission adopted by the state government, of exemplary work. When talking about the responsible tourism resource map, the experience of the local community, potential tourism products and services is worked on the potential tourism products and services related to the tourism activity.
A colleague of the FDP proposed a vote of thanks and emphasized the importance of responsible tourism in the country. The workshop witnessed a cross section of scholars, students and faculty from all over the world and time zones.
