Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first phase of the Navi Mumbai International Airport and inaugurated the final stretch of the underground metro-3 (Aqua Line) corridor on Wednesday.
The Prime Minister also launched a unified common mobility application that brings together multiple public transport operators (PTOs) under one digital platform.
The Prime Minister arrived in Navi Mumbai at 3 am, where he went through the process of the newly constructed airport before the first phase. It will also complete the last phase of metro-3 corridor between Acharya Atre Chowk and Cuffe Parade, a 33.5 km fully underground route connecting Aarey-JVLR to Cuffe parade. It operates at 5.55 AM and 10.30 PM for linemen from October 9.
The app will allow commuters to digitally purchase tickets, plan multimodal journeys and get real-time travel updates on routes and timetables.
