Pilot training center at Air India and Airbus Gurugram, Ettravelworld

Air India, in partnership with Airbus, has inaugurated a state-of-the-art pilot training center at the Air India Aviation Training Academy, Haryana. The 50:50 joint venture facility is expected to train over 5,000 new pilots in a major step towards boosting the growing demand for aviation professionals in India.

12,000 sq m training centre, Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ramohan Naidu, Chief Executive Officer, Commercial Aircraft, Airbus; Campbell Wilson, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Air India; and dignitaries from TATA Group, Air India and Airbus.

Equipped with 10 full flight simulators (FFSS), advanced classrooms and briefing rooms, the facility is designed to train pilots for the Airbus A320 and A350 family of aircraft. The courses at the center are approved by both the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Two simulators for the A320 aircraft are currently operational with the installation of six additional A320 and two A350 simulators.

The GuruGram Facility integrates Air India’s pilot training infrastructure, which complements its Aviation Training Academy, currently the largest in South Asia. The academy trains more than 2,000 aviation professionals daily and is projected to train 50,000 personnel in the coming years, including pilots, cabin crew, engineering, ground handling and security personnel.

In addition, Air India is also setting up the largest Flying Training Institution in Maharashtra at Amravati, Maharashtra, which is set to graduate 180 commercial pilots annually by FY27. These initiatives highlight Air India’s efforts to expand its aviation training infrastructure and meet future industry needs.
