Indigo announces direct flights from Delhi and Mumbai to Athens

India’s airline of choice has announced new direct services between Mumbai and Athens, following Delhi and Athens on January 23, 2026.

The new services mark a strategic milestone for Indigo as it moves deeper into Europe using Long-Range Narrowbody aircraft. Athens has emerged as a major leisure and leisure destination for Indian travelers and direct airline connectivity is expected to support both tourism and bilateral trade between the two countries.

Commenting on the announcement, Pieter Sciences, Chief Executive Officer, India, said:

“We are delighted to announce our flights from Mumbai and Delhi to Athens in Athens on India’s first Airbus A321XLR. This landmark development marks the beginning of a new era of direct connectivity between India and Greece. We are confident that these new routes will play a vital role in strengthening the cultural and economic ties between the two ancient civilizations. To expand Athens, leisure, mouse and wedding tourism emerges as the main European destination for This direct connection will unlock significant potential for more two-way engagements.

The Airbus A321XLR offers a range of up to 8,700 km, enabling non-stop operations from India to Southern Europe. Indigo’s A321XLR will feature 183 Economy Class seats with a pitch of 31 inches and a pitch of 5 inches and 12 Indigostretch seats with a pitch of 44 inches and a pitch of 6 inches.

To enhance the in-flight experience, Indigo has partnered with blue box to introduce a new digital entertainment platform on its A321XLR fleet. Passengers can stream a wide selection of TV shows, games and animated series on their personal devices, complemented by safety equipment and device owners.

Passengers will also enjoy complimentary hot food and beverages inspired by Indian and global flavors. Vegetarian meals Vegetarian meals will be served with the option to pre-order vegetarian meals at the time of booking. Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase in economy and a complimentary base is offered to Indigostretch customers.
