Kerala Tourism Minister Mohamed Riyas on Friday launched India’s first tourism literature festival – Yaanam 2025 – Varkala city, which he said will be an annual feature bringing together artists, artists and travel enthusiasts.
At the three-day Festival at Ranga Kala Kendram on the cliff here, Riyas said the three-day event also showcased Kerala’s various sacrifices before a global audience.
Organized by Kerala Tourism, travel writers, vloggers and social media wellness enthusiasts from around the world who came together from October 17-19 set the stage today to share the demands of sustainable and inclusive tourism.
He said it was about ‘Celebrating Words and Wanderlust’.
Riyas, in his address, noted that the event was held at the same time as travel literature and visual travelogues of the world.
He also termed the trip burning Saturday as a path-breaking initiative of Kerala tourism.
“The first festival of this country will ensure the tourism prospects of VARKALA specifically by presenting the tourism potential of this picturesque coastal town to the world,” said Riyas.
He said it was an attempt to promote the tourism aspects of the state in front of the passionate travelers, apart from taking in Kerala, writings and visually.
The festival will also offer comprehensive and interactive workshops on topics such as writing and photography throughout all three days.
Touching on his own personal experiences, Riyas, since his student days and a huge fan of Malayalam author and Jnanpith Laureatee SK Pottekkatt, who brought the world to Malayalis by taking Travelogues that developed the world
In a welcome address, Kerala Tourism Secretary Biju K said Kerala Tourism has set the standard by transforming Tourism destination management into cultural management, thereby showing that the state is “leading the way in an imaginative, innovative and responsible country”.
‘Yaanam’ will feature renowned speakers from India and abroad who will narrate their perspectives and experiences, said the release.
